Furnishing Gender is a culmination of home furniture and objects that have been deliberately altered to explore and expose pervasive aspects of toxic masculinity. The work within examines issues of rape culture, queer culture, and all that is hetero-normal that link our realities to the lie of masculinity and gender difference. I intend that you become uncomfortable. I hope that you do not shy away from this discomfort. This exhibition represents a challenge to all who view it to be vulnerable and genuine and sit through conversations that confront the conventions of traditional gender roles and biases.
